Doodle Patterns is an app created by me and published by Lightwood Games.

I became interested in doodling after I was given a book about Zentangle® for my Birthday.  I found myself suddenly carrying a sketch book everywhere, creating patterns from things around me – carpets, curtains, architecture, anything! :o)  When I was drawing I often wanted to use a pattern I’d learnt before and was referring back to books, or the internet, or my own drawings.  I thought it would be great to have a library of patterns in my pocket and hunted for an iPhone app.  I was amazed to discover there weren’t any pattern apps available, so I made one!

I have carefully drawn out the steps I use to create each of the patterns.  Each pattern is then scanned, edited, chopped up, and added to the app.  At present there are over 300 patterns in the library and I’m adding more regularly :o)

If there’s a pattern you wish you had in your pocket, just let me know and I’ll get drawing! :o)

  1. I posted two pics through the app. I know they look very sloppy and basic but they are by my granddaughters ages 9 and 8. I introduced them to it hands on yesterday first thing they told dad was you have got to get the app. Thanks for encouraging young artists too

  4. I have a square to do with the current project but can't find info on where it is and how to copy it to print. Can you help?
    • When you claimed the square you should have received an email with the square attached in a PDF. Can you please check your junk/spam folder for it? :o)

    • Hi Donna, What kind of phone/tablet do you have? I'm not an Android expert but I believe you close apps by pressing either the Home or Back button on the actual device?
  6. I love your app. I've been using it for some time. I would like to send you some interview questions for my upcoming series of interviews with Zentangers.
    • Glad you like the app! Feel free to send over some questions - Katherine @ doodling-together dot com :o)
  7. Dear Ms. Katherine, I've sent an email to you few days ago. About asking your permission introducing the app doodling together in an online digital art project. Haven't received your response. I am wondering if you got the mail? Would you send me a mail please? I can explain more details. Thank you very much. :)
    • Hi :o) I've just replied to your email :o)
  8. Dear Katherine, I'm sorry to bother you here again. Since I haven't got your reply on email few days ago. Please kindly let me know if you received the papers and if any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. Thanks a lot! :) Pai
    • Hi Shelly, When you claim a tile you should receive an email with a PDF of the square ready to print out and doodle. In that email there is a link to unclaim the tile if you need to. If you don't have the email, please check your junk/spam folder. Squares which are claimed too long become automatically unclaimed if the owner doesn't respond to follow up emails :o)
